Import rules have apparently changed in recent months, and I got a letter in the mail from CBP stating that a package of mine coming from Germany was being held as it was valued at over $800 and, unless I filed formal entry paperwork within 30 days, it would be returned to sender.
I know absolutely nothing about formal entry documentation or customs clearance or anything like that that, but what I do know is that I emailed 15 brokers in the general vicinity of JFK requesting any sort of assistance, and only Kieran at Aeon replied. Once I provided the details and what documents I had, I was told Aeon would be able to handle this for me.
I provided a few more documents, Kieran provided me with status updates and an invoice, and once paid, I received the final release paperwork. Took only two or three business days to get everything sorted and processed via email correspondence alone, and I wouldn't be surprised in the least if this could have been done in just a day or two if I had provided everything to them sooner.
