Every single morning these couriers block the bike lane on 58th/9th putting anyone who rides by in danger. They also ride the opposite direction with full carts of items, forcing anyone riding correctly to dodge or get in a head on collision. I see a close accident almost daily, including ones I've personally almost been involved in. They have no regard for anybody but themselves. I do not blame the individual workers as I'm sure these directives of indifference come from management. Do not give this company your business.
HORRIBLE!!!! ATTN: BUSINESS OWNERS / DESIGNERS DO NOT USE THIS DELIVERY SERVICE!!!
DAMAGED ITEMS AND DELAYED DELIVERY (even though I paid for expedited rush service)
My package which was perfectly protected in bubble wrap and cardboard was delivered by breakaway to an art storage facility. When they inspected the item upon arrival it was damaged. Breakaway refused to accept that the damage happened during delivery. They would not take responsibility even though they admitted it was perfect when picked up. They did not refund me, pay for repairs, or offer to deliver the item back to the framer where it needed to go to be repaired.
Because this project was time sensitive, I desperately paid for a rush pick up service to have the item picked up from the art storage facility and delivered to a framer to be repaired.
I paid extra for expedited rush service. The delivery was delayed and arrived three hours after the framer had closed (Even though I made it very clear when it needed to arrive by). I ended up having to drive 1.5 hours to meet the breakaway delivery driver. I also asked multiple times to be connected to the drive by phone so I could meet him at the right time and not have to wait. I was told I would receive a contact number for the driver and never did. I assume the breakaway employee named Eric left for the day and just forgot that I was about to drive 1.5 hours to meet his delivery driver person.
WILL NEVER BE USING THIS COMPANY AGAIN.
The entire time the management was rude and difficult to communicate with. TERRIBLE SERVICE. DO NOT USE - WILL JUST CAUSE MORE ISSUES FOR YOU.
On Wednesday afternoon October 20 at 4:45pm, I was walking on West End Avenue near 235 WEA, which is between 70th and 71st. A delivery truck drove right up onto the MIDDLE OF THE SIDEWALK, ignoring wheelchairs and pedestrians. A TRUCK OF THIS SIZE IS NOT ALLOWED TO RIDE ON THE SIDEWALKS IN MANHATTAN.
I took photos. The doorman in 235 West End Avenue told me that this was an Amazon delivery. The driver of the truck is a Cargo Bike Operator from Breakaway Courier System. The number of the truck is T0803. I documented this in photos -- including him actively riding away on the sidewalk right near a wheelchair.
I hope that both the driver and delivery company will be properly disciplined by Amazon.
The customer service from a guy that answers the phone absolutely SUCKS! They forgot to schedule my morning pick up and then they had the nastiest attitude about their own "UN-professionalism"! Completely unapologetic about their mishap! AND wanted to charge me $65.00 for super rush for their SHORTCOMINGS. Now that my package has been delivered I will no longer be using this company!
The employees at the Bethpage location need driver safety classes. They run red lights and cut people off. This occurs every morning. I hope this company is able to see this comment and does something about their drivers.
