If you have all the time in the world, then maybe rent from this place. We had to wait over an hour past our scheduled pickup time just to get the car. I understand there may have been internal miscommunication, but as a customer this was a major inconvenience.
Customer service was unfriendly and the only compensation offered was a $35 certificate. Another group of customers had already been waiting over 2 hours past their pickup time and still hadn’t received any updates or compensation. At that point, what’s even the purpose of making a reservation?
Just something to keep in mind if you want to avoid going through the same experience.
This location has twice pulled a bait and switch with available vehicles that resulted in higher charges. While the rental reservation said it was a Chevy Equinox, no mention was made of it being electric. This rental was for a long drive to Washington DC, so an electric wasn’t feasible. Plus, I have no experience with electric vehicles. I was then offered “the only thing available,” which was a more expensive Volkswagen Atlas. Of course I had no choice but to accept, since this rental was to pick up my son and bring him back to NYC. The return was a nightmare, with the street on which Hertz is located was completely closed for scraping and paving. No warning. And no answer when I tried calling the location. When I finally got through the barricades to return the car (after driving in circles for an hour), the staff was lounging outside the garage watching the street pavers. Never again. I should be given a refund.
We had a great experience at this Hertz, all the service staff we encountered were quick and efficient. Shoutout to Frank! Frank was very funny and amusing, he made us feel very welcome. He shared lots of anecdotes that made us laugh. The car was great, clean and ran well.

Manager special felt like a total scam. I took this because it was cheaper but not a single time does it say that the car is going to be electric ! They didnt even have an electric model in the list of available car !
And since the car they offer have no range and you have to refuse it and take another car, they can scam you and double the price of the rent !
The car it self had low tire pressure and was late on maintenance.
Finally, if you dare to use even one single toll they will charge you with the full amount of their "unlimited toll" option for the entirety of your rent, even if you refused it at the beginning !
Final bill was three times what I initially paid. If that is not a scam, I dont know what it is.
When I arrived at 11am, the time of my reservation, to pick up my reserved car I was told there was not a car available and I would be put on a waiting list for the next available car. This is completely unacceptable, as I had made a reservation weeks prior so that my travel plans would go smoothly. We waited one hour for a car and therefore were late for our engagement. We were not offered other options, such as transportation to a different rental car location, the only solution given was to wait for another customer to drop off their rental. We were not given a refund or offered any compensation for the stress and delay that this caused. I made a reservation and therefore a car should be available for me at the time of my reservation. This model of overbooking cars is unacceptable and needs to be addressed. As a result, YOUR employees have to deal with frustrated customers due to overbookings and the stress this poor business model creates. I will not be using hertz again and will not recommend the company to friends either.
