I love taking salsa classes at Joel Salsa! I’m currently in one of the Level 2.0 classes with Geovanni and Jennie, who are excellent instructors. They do a great job teaching at this level, especially when it comes to shines and partner work, while consistently reinforcing key fundamentals.
What I enjoy most is their energy. Every single week they make the class fun, and it’s very clear they truly enjoy what they do.
I’m also taking a package of private lessons with Geovanni (which is a great value), and it has made a world of difference. I used to think I didn’t have rhythm, but I’m discovering that I actually do. I look forward to each lesson because Geovanni is excellent at explaining exactly where I can improve and what’s missing, all while keeping the experience enjoyable. I also took a private lesson when I was in Level 1 with Juan Carlo & that one lesson helped a lot!
The school also hosts socials and offers a full salsa community, along with online videos that reinforce what you learn in class.
Finally, Joel and Maria are incredibly approachable and always striving to make an already top-tier salsa school even better. I’ve already recommended Joel Salsa to family and friends! Highly recommend!
I can’t recommend Joel Salsa enough!! I have always wanted to learn salsa so I took level 1 and am about to start my 3rd round of level 2!! All of the instructors are fantastic and make learning so fun and the 4 week sessions make it so easy to fit it into my schedule. Joel Salsa is the absolute best!!
I’m taking the beginner salsa class, and I’m absolutely loving it. What I enjoy most is the sense of joy and accomplishment at the end of each class. I always leave feeling energized and happy.
I’m learning salsa the right way, which has been incredibly valuable. Before this class, I picked up some bad habits doing my own thing, and the instruction has really helped me break those habits, especially learning when to follow instead of lead. My technique and confidence have improved so much already.
Huge shout‑out to Celia and David, they are fantastic instructors! They’re patient, encouraging, and make the class both fun and educational.
I would absolutely recommend these classes to friends and family, and I already have. If you’re thinking about learning salsa, this is the place to start!
Teachers have a vibrant energy and one can tell they love dancing. I’ve only taken one lesson, so my perspective is limited: in my view, the teachers explained the steps a bit backwards: and would explain the correct way / order once dancers were already doing it wrong. My humble suggestion would be to “show” how the move should look like; break it down explaining the count and the do’s and don’ts, then, let the class practice. As a Latina (who has danced in Latin clubs for most of her life) that hand hold you’re teaching the guys is weird/but whatever helps them lead/get us to better follow, I guess:)
Taking wkly privates with Geovanni for 7 weeks has built my confidence more than 6 months of classes at another school. I highly recommend privates as well as group classes. The 1x1 private lessons helped me fix little things that make a huge difference! For me, my confidence was going to either make or break me! It definitely made me…a salsa dancer!!
