My daughter joined Lebeor's portfolio class in 7th grade to prepare for NYC high school admissions in visual arts. Her instructor was excellent — challenging, supportive, and he pushed her to grow as an artist. The class made a real difference in the quality of her work. My daughter met kids from different schools who have become close friends and continued taking classes after the portfolio was submitted because she enjoys it so much. Last week she got into her top-choice visual arts high school! I'm grateful to have found Lebeor!
I can’t say enough great things about Lebeor School of Art. My daughter has been going there every week since the beginning of 7th grade. This year she got into her first choice for high school. Her portfolio turned out amazing and enjoyed the whole process. She has even made some amazing new friends. Highly recommend!!
My 6-year old kid looks forward to going to Lebeor class every Tuesday.
I was looking hard for more serious drawing classes for a while as most of the classes for this age is more play-based but Lebeor is not. As other reviewers mentioned, they treat every kid as mature learners and teach every fundamental skill in a way that young kids can understand, like proportions, shading and color mixing. The other kids there are all very talented and you can tell they are self driven to love drawing and come to classes.
Lebeor definitely provides formal art training for kids who want to pursue art specialty schools etc but I love that they provide the much needed guidance for kids who just have the passion to learn more about art.
Ms Niki and Mr Leon are very nice people to interact with.
Lebeor School of Art helped my kids explore and express their creativity through various medium. Instructors were very responsive to my kids suggestions. They enjoy doing projects with different themes and especially like painting with watercolor.
My daughter began taking classes with Lebeor one year ago as a fifth grader - both in-person classes at BAX and online classes to prepare for the Mark Twain admission. She is consistently excited and motivated to attend these classes. They are the highlight of her week!
The classes are structured to expose the kids to working with different media (pencil, pen, colored pencil, watercolor, gouache) and different subject matter (figurative, still life, landscape). Through the teachers' guidance with techniques for using various media, help in understanding proportion and composition, and encouragement to explore creative ideas, my daughter's abilities as an artist have grown tremendously in just a year! She now has a portfolio of work that is far superior to any work she completed prior to starting classes with Lebeor.
The admissions prep class for Mark Twain was very valuable in preparing the two pieces and essay for the application. Mr. Leon understands well the application process and expectations of the school, and I strongly believe that this class helped my daughter gain admission to Mark Twain's art program.
I highly recommend Lebeor's classes for anyone whose child is interested in developing their skills as an artist!
