Reasonably priced lunch specials. The salad is left out all day so not always fresh, but reasonable for the price point. The meat is
served cold, would be better if it were served hot. Some of the employees give you freebies which is nice :)
A friend of mine and I have been to “Ready to Eat” several times. Each time we’ve stopped in for lunch, we’ve been really impressed. We’re impressed with the quality of both the customer service and the delicious food.
Let me break this down! First of all, it’s a charming eatery, with old-school West Village vibes, reminding us of the days when the crowd here was more artsy and less corporate. And it exists on an unassuming block, on Hudson Street. One could almost walk by without even noticing it, which is largely why I’m writing this complimentary review. (We gotta publicize this great place!) The woman who has always served at the counter there (around 1 PM on weekdays), is: friendly, efficient, patient and welcoming. She always brings a smile to our faces. And the man who serves in the kitchen area seems quite warm, too, even though I haven’t spoken with him as much. The food has always been fresh, plentiful and tasteful. Bravo!
The last time I was there, I ordered the turkey burgers paired with the lemon potatoes. So awesome! Another time, I ordered the Greek/Israeli salad, which was also really awesome. I also had a kale-based salad there once, which was equally awesome. With that, I highly recommend this lovely eatery, replete with good food and good people. Happy Holidays, everyone! My Best, Katherine “Kat” PS I gave “atmosphere” four stars - not five - above simply because there’s no indoor seating…it’s solely a “grab and go” place. Yet, for what it is, it’s fantastic! : )
Ready To Eat is a real gem. Everything tastes homemade but sharp in flavor fresh, balanced, and done with care. You feel they’ve been perfecting this for years. Fast, reliable, and the best hidden NYC spot. Highly recommend.
An incredible lunch spot! Super amazing rotating menu of home cooked style foods. Great place to grab and go or sit outside
Ready to Eat in the west village on Hudson Street by w10th Street, has very healthy cooked dishes of vegetables and grains and meats, and like good restaurants, sources many of their fresh produce from local farms from CSAs or the local farmer's markets, which tend to be low or no-spray and fresh. There are no preservatives and no additives, unlike many grocery stores.
The steamed vegetable dish with broccoli, brussels sprouts, carrots, and shiitake mushrooms was very fresh, and the eggplant dish had a very flavorful sauce, and I could conveniently carry the dishes home in my own stainless steel restaurant containers to avoid wasteful packaging.
