I had SUCH an amazing time in this hip hop class!! The energy was insane from start to finish 🔥 The instructor made everyone feel so comfortable while still pushing us to go hard and have fun. The choreography was super fun and easy to catch onto, even if you’re not a pro. I left feeling confident, sweaty, and honestly just so happy. Definitely coming back again!!
I just want to say how great the classes are. The instructors are awesome, the staff is super sweet, and they are very accommodating. Thank you, sass class For bringing people together And building community. Due to the weather, I was not able to travel into the city because of all the snow and they were very helpful with the class packages!
I used to really enjoy these classes, but over time a few recurring issues have made them frustrating. Specifically Emma’s classes.
First, the class consistently runs past the scheduled end time. I understand that, as adults, we can leave when we need to, but leaving early often means missing the end of the choreography. This feels like a time management issue that could be solved either by tightening the pacing or officially extending the class length.
There is also a significant amount of talking during class, which seems to contribute to it running late. While some discussion is helpful, extended pauses take away from actual flow. I’d personally prefer more time spent running the routine.
Finally, the class feels oversold. The room often becomes extremely crowded, making floor work uncomfortable and sometimes unsafe, people butts in your face, your heels in someone’s face, etc. Tight spacing leads to uneven staggering and occasional confusion about placement. Offering additional class times or clearly marking spots on the floor could help make the experience smoother and safer for everyone.
I genuinely liked these classes at one point, which is why this is disappointing. With better time management, I think the experience could be improved. Might pop-in in a few months and see if anything has changed.
Best vibe, best teachers, perfect for novice- but also awesome place for performers who are “movers” but don’t have the 20 years of dance training to be a dancer-dancer. This is also one of the only dance classes in the city that genuinely focuses on everyone actually getting something out of the class and actually improving as opposed to just throwing a combo as quickly as possible to record. It’s a nice reprieve from an audition-coded environment like at BDC, and an awesome place to just nurture your love of dance in a non judgy and non competitive space, regardless of level. And their video workshops are so fun!
I began my heels journey at SassClass through the "Taste of Sass" program and my dance journey has been great since. The instructors are top tier and so amazing. I've been going to SassClass for almost 4 years now and I've always had a great experience. Love it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND especially if you're a beginner. It will transform you and your dance experience.
