I went to multiple locations of the dermatology specialists over several months, at both locations I was unsatisfied with my level of care. Never received any type of follow up or information after the appointment. Overall my conditioned worsened while under their care.
I almost never do a public review of a company but I have now been shocked so many times. My experience has been that this is not a medical office / operation. It seems to me to be a front for private equity funded company built around cosmetic procedures and they are hiring people from the mall. I have had so many unconscionable errors in this practice that would be unacceptable in a normal medical practice that adheres to medical standards, it’s astounding. There is a reason why high-risk industries have quality control - this is not important here. I feel the need to say something. Get yourself a proper professional. Not here.
Just had skin check-up as a new patient. The complete process was flawless. From the initial call, the text followup, the exam, and the checkout. My doctor, Angelica Peacock, was excellent. Knowledgeable, communicative, caring, and responsive. Also her assistant, Yahya, was very good.
I wanted to like Kips Bay Dermatology office bc the location is convenient, but the amount of time I’ve wasted trying to fix their billing mistake completely outweighs the convenience.
They entered my medical billing codes incorrectly, which caused me to receive a bill $500+ than it should've been. There's no direct line to the actual office(s) everything routes through an AI system first & once you get a human on the line they can't help transfer you. Every time I called, the wait on hold was 10+ minutes to speak to someone who turned out was only trained to help me pay the bill, not troubleshoot why it was wrong.
When I pointed out that my last 2 statements had a $350 difference & nothing about my visit or insurance had changed, I was told nothing could be escalated until my credit card was charged in error. How is that acceptable??
So to recap, I had to:
• speak to AI
• wait on hold repeatedly
• inform billing rep about medical code error who turned out couldn’t help with billing issue
• was told the incorrect charge had to go through before anyone at the actual office I go to would even look into it
So if this seems like the type of experience you’re looking for then yeah book at Kips Bay Dermatology.
I started calling at 9 AM to resolve this, as of now 1 PM it’s still not fixed & not a single person has called me back.
After finally getting a number for another office (which I was falsely told was the Kips Bay office), I learned they did enter my visit incorrectly as another medical code. I was told the office manager, Frances, would look into it. Hours later, I still haven’t heard from her or anyone..
Based on this practice's Yelp reviews, this seems to be a recurring habit, wrong medical billing! I’m not saying they’re doing it on purpose, but if you’re not constantly following up double-checking their work, there’s a good chance they’ll mess up the billing, so you’ll end up being charged more than you should.
Totally unreachable and an incompetent front desk — if you don’t want to spend your life waiting for a call back or trying to get the smallest thing done, stay away.
A) When you call, you’re forced to speak to an AI robot named Anna.
B) If you manage to get through that, you’re routed to a central call center — not the actual office — and they just “take a message.”
After that, you’re left hoping someone calls you back… which they don’t.
I was guaranteed a 2-week turnaround to get my medication authorized for treatment. I had to micromanage an entire process. No one called me after a week. When I followed up, they said they’d call me back — they never did. It later turned out the pharmacy needed additional information, and no one bothered to notify me and tell me to provide it and that this was to delay the process.
Then, when everything finally went through, the office called me the day before my appointment to move my time. I luckily managed to squeeze it between meetings — only for the appointment to start almost an hour late and completely disrupt my day.
An absolute disaster. Save yourself and find a different place.
