I worked with John Moauro to help me design a shelving unit that was perfect for my small 450 sqft apt. - I am so pleased. John even suggested deeper drawers and I am so glad he did cause now I have 3 deep drawers and 1 catch-all drawer that are perfect for storing music and files. I saved a little money by making it a floating shelf so that they didn't have to build around the molding near the floor, which allows me to store bins underneath. I am so pleased - worth every penny. The best part is that its build in two parts so if/when I move it easily comes off the wall and goes with me.

He took the time to understand our needs and offered solutions that were both practical and aesthetically pleasing. Throughout the process, he was responsive, patient, and professional. I highly recommend him!!
The customer service was also excellent. The installation team was careful, respectful of the space, and very detail-oriented. They made adjustments easily—such as modifying the pole height—and ensured everything was done properly. That level of care and flexibility really stood out.
The only feedback I would share (not related to Scott) is regarding pricing transparency. I do wish the itemized pricing had been more detailed, as there were some scope reductions, yet the overall price increased, which was a bit confusing.
That said, I’m very pleased with the final outcome and would absolutely recommend them—especially if you have the chance to work with Scott!
I contracted California Closets for a $25,000 closet installation in a luxury high-rise in Central Park South area. Nearly three months later, serious wiring safety issues among multiple other major design defects remain unresolved.
The lighting overheats and cannot be switched off without tape, unit cutout and electrical outlet are misaligned making the outlet inaccessible, inset doors were used when a seamless look was requested, and there are large visible gaps measuring up to 2 inches (2") on each side among other issues including wall damage.
25+ emails, texts, and phone calls, but promised repair teams are never sent, and the company continues to demand full payment during an active dispute. I was even pressured to submit the remaining balance before year-end despite unfinished and unsafe work so they could “close their books.”
I would strongly warn anyone considering a project to look elsewhere.
California Closets (Keith Johnson, our design consultant, and the installation crew) did a beautiful job designing and installing bookshelves in our living room and bedroom. I could not be happier with the entire experience: Keith created a stunning and functional design, which was responsive to our needs and was able to fit within our budget. The installation crew was super professional and was able to finish a day early. From design to installation, their customer service was outstanding. I cannot recommend California Closets highly enough. They exceeded my high expectations on all dimensions.
