Dr. Alverez is absolutely fantastic! I can't recommend him enough.
I’m someone who values supporting great businesses, and my experience with Dr. Gilberto Alvarez at Downtown Dermatology in NYC absolutely deserves a review.
I went in for help with sun spots on my face and was looking for a straightforward, effective solution. What I appreciated right away was how efficient and professional the entire visit was. Dr. Alvarez was knowledgeable, confident, and didn’t overcomplicate anything, he addressed my concerns clearly and got straight to the point.
What really impressed me was how painless and effortless the treatment was, he is a true professional.
The office is clean, well-run, and has that elevated NYC feel where you know you’re in good hands. The whole experience felt seamless and high-quality without being overwhelming.
If you’re looking for a dermatologist in NYC for sun spot removal or overall skin clarity, I would definitely recommend Dr. Alvarez. I’ll be coming back for future visits.
Outstanding Dermatologist — Skilled, Caring, and Precise
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Alverez. He is one of the most caring and knowledgeable dermatologists I’ve ever met. From the moment you walk in, he takes the time to truly listen, explain every step, and make sure you feel comfortable and informed.
When it comes to procedures involving a needle, his skill is unmatched — his hand is incredibly steady, his technique precise, and he approaches every treatment with such attention to detail and confidence that you immediately feel at ease. He’s truly one of the few doctors I trust completely with a needle anywhere near my face.
Dr. Alverez combines genuine compassion with exceptional technical expertise — a rare and wonderful combination. I’m so grateful to have found him and would recommend him without hesitation to anyone looking for expert, trustworthy dermatological care.
I've been trying to find a great dermatologist for a very long time. Dr. Alvarez was efficient, smart, kind and everything you would want to treat a skin condition that I was challenged with on my thumb. I will be recommending him to everyone!
I booked an appointment online, uploaded my insurance information and ID, confirmed the appointment, and received confirmation via email. When I arrived at the clinic, the front desk staff informed me that they do not take my insurance. There was no apology for wasting my time and no one ever called me to apologize, meanwhile the website still indicates that they do accept my insurance. The person whom I spoke with at the clinic indicated that she attempted to call me once, but did not get through, and provided the option for me to self-pay. Is it youth that prevented her from understanding the problem with this whole scenario? Why would I plan to self-pay when I have insurance that, per DD's website, is accepted? Why would I plan to self-pay when the online booking process accepted my information and confirmed the appointment? Why would I plan to self-pay when I already pay for my insurance? Why would DD not reach out to me again and leave a message or send an email, providing me with the opportunity to make an informed decision about the upcoming appointment? The staff person distanced herself from the entire situation and took no responsibility for how she handled the matter. What I saw was client disregard, poor communication skills, and lack of problem solving skills. DD needs to do better on the administrative side.
