Went by the store a few times the past month, not even around their posted hours. What’s the point of having store hours if you’re randomly closed so often?

When consulting with (not sure of his name), I found the curtain offering to be in poor taste and somewhat outdated. Went to The Shade Company and The Shades Store instead, much better service and style.

I recently hired this company for custom linen draperies throughout my new home. Drapes are beautiful. I had an issue with the remote control system- they emailed, texted ahd called and came back and not only made sure all was working - they wrote me detailed instructions and tolerated my move/ stress induced melt down with grace. My experience with them has been a quality product, gracious and prompt customer service and follow up.

Can't say enough good things about M&A Design! Worked with both Mike and Ayash -- years of experience, knew exactly what I needed, delivered great, personalized service every step of the way. My prewar apartment's windows are crooked and misaligned in every way possible, but Mike installed my shades so that they fit and work perfectly. Look no further -- these guys are the best!

We have had Hunter Douglas classic Venetian blinds on all six of our mid 20th century steel casement windows since buying our apartment in 2001, but twenty years had taken its toll on them. The strong sun on the wooden slats of the four south-facing windows had destroyed their finish, and dried and made the wood brittle and easy to crack. The wooden slats in the blinds on the other two windows facing west were, believe it or not, still in very good shape, since they are mostly kept fully raised because of the great lower Manhattan views from Brooklyn Heights out of those windows. But the cord that raises and lowers the widest (and heaviest) blind ultimately snapped.

That was when I discovered M & A Design as a Hunter Douglas servicer and vendor in nearby Dumbo. I cabbed down there with the blind, and Michael Sabbagh expertly repaired it within 1 day! While I was there delivering the blind to be repaired, Phillip-John Puzzo, who mans the showroom, showed me the current version of our Hunter Douglas blinds, which I liked. I decided to investigate how big a project replacing the blinds on south-facing windows would be, dreading what 20 years had done to the costs. We agreed that they would deliver the repaired blind and measure the remaining four windows for replacement blinds and then deliver an estimate after using those dimensions.

Note that all of these are CASEMENT windows with two opening panels, and one is a hexagonal bay window with three panels, the central one housing two hinged doors. Although they offered to make one full width blind for the windows other than the bay windows to simplify the fabrication and lower the cost a bit, we needed the ability to raise and lower the sections covering the casement doors and central panel independently. That was the scheme with our old blinds. Plus, any mechanism failure, even though unlikely with Hunter Douglas, would not affect the entire window's covering. No problem! Ayash Sabbagh, who returned the repaired blind, went over all of these issues, and then quickly measured every existing blind's width and length, correcting some ancient errors in the original installation, in less than 20 minutes despite my tagging along and continuing to ask questions.

The estimate for 10 individual blinds of different dimensions, the installation, and sales tax was significantly less than $300/blind after the discount they offered. The only slight problem was the lengthy 7-week delay in the factory finishing the order, but that has become inescapable everywhere since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The installation, despite being complicated, took only an hour. Michael returned immediately to check the cord passage through the mechanism of one blind when contacted 2 months later. He also gave expert advice on dusting and measures to preserve the wood finish, plus how to adjust the cord lengths in the pull handles. I cannot recommend M & A Design strongly enough. They took excellent care of us!
