Great choice if you want comfortable, secure & hi-fidelity music earplugs, whether you're a musician or not. Dr. Heche is very thorough with ear impressions, and the Sensaphonics molds she had made for me have been rock solid for multi-hour dancing sessions where I also often talk to people - conditions which can impact fit. Her office manager Matthew is also a pleasure to work with.
Dr. Melissa and staff were great to work with! I'd highly recommend proceeding with her for your ear molds/impressions for custom in ears.
I had an excellent experience at NY Speech & Hearing with Dr. Heche, and I felt compelled to share it because of the level of care I received.
What stood out most was Dr. Heche’s honesty and attentiveness. I initially went in wanting to pursue an option that, after careful explanation, I came to understand would have been harmful to my hearing. Rather than simply going along with what I asked for, Dr. Heche took the time to walk me through the risks, explain the science behind it, and make sure I truly understood why it wasn’t in my best interest.
That kind of integrity is rare. I never felt rushed, dismissed, or talked down to. Instead, I felt listened to and genuinely cared for. The experience was both reassuring and eye opening, and it left me with a lot of trust in the practice.

Tried to get hearing aids via my insurance that used Amplifon. Very few Amplifon providers in the region actually have an audiologist, and I ended up with Dr. Heche. I have a music and technology background (worked as an engineer in the music industry for a couple decades) and was ten minutes late to my first appointment (thank you subway delays) and the appointment only went downhill from there. Dr. Heche comes off as a defensive amateur musician who pivoted to an adjacent field (not an unusual thing). But I mean really defensive. And blaming. Like that ten minutes was the reason your printer didn't work? Or you couldn't connect to the online service that Resound uses? There was no real opportunity to get options of different hearing aids. Just, "Apple or Android?" and a comment about if I want to hear anything with fidelity I need to get IEMs and a personal EQ instead of using studio monitors (which doesn't work in a studio with more than one person in it). and bam! I got hearing aids that were worse than my five-year-old pair. As in, unintelligible over the phone in both directions, quiet and thin streaming, and just confusing in complex environments. And she blamed me being late repeatedly. And when I sent the hearing aids back within the return window to get them exchanged, she just returned them to Amplifon and closed out the case, in a new calendar year, making my cost go from covered 100% to entirely out-of-pocket.
So she might be good for ear molds for your IEMs or musician's plugs, but good luck with the pink room with the bitter person in it being a helpful source for your hearing.
Dr. Heche is a wonderful audiologist. She treats me and my kids. Since I began under her care three years ago, my speech recognition and sound tolerance have improved (whereas previously, both had been on a steady decline). In addition, she found the right hearing aids for me so I can participate in the world and in human interaction in a way I couldn’t before.
