I have been going to Spring Street Dermatology since they very first opened their doors and it was only two doctors.
I booked an appointment online over the weekend for a laser treatment I have done with them a few times. I called on Monday to check pricing as I assume, like most businesses, their pricing had increased.
The person who answered the phone pulled up my chart and I asked what the exact treatment area was I had done previously and she told me it was my full face. I asked what that costs now and she told me $700. I asked what it was previously and she said $600 so fine, I’m confirmed for what I have done previously and got it on the increased price.
I arrive early for my 10:00 am appointment and I tell the medical assistant that I have to leave by 10:30 am which should be fine since the laser only takes 15 minutes. She tells me she’ll let the doctor know and then leaves the room without saying they are running behind, nothing, so I’m assuming I’ll be out by 10:30. She comes back at 10:25 when I was getting ready to leave and wants to make sure I understand the new rates and I told her I did because I called on Monday and it’s $700. She tells me it’s $850 and says she can ask which I ask her to do since that’s such a big difference. So now I’m never going to make my next appointment because no one gave me the courtesy to tell me I could not be out on time and I’m trying to email people saying I’m going to be very late.
Seconds later the medical assistant appears with the doctor and I’m told prices increased 18 months ago and they have no idea where they got $700 because it was never $700 so I’m flustered.
Halfway into my forehead being done, I said I’ve never had this done before because I would have remembered this much pain. I asked what pricing was for everything but my forehead and I’m told that would have been $750 so I say, so, this is not what I asked to have done and while it makes a little more sense, I was given incorrect pricing regardless.
After my appointment, I asked to speak with the practice manager, Desiree Ruiz, and explain everything that happened. She told me that there was no way anyone on the phone would have given me an exact price because they would only give a range and then she went and looked at the computer and tells me that my chart says I was given a range which I know to be untrue and I don’t like being made out to be a liar. I asked if the call was recorded and she confirms it was so I give her the time stamp of my call and asked that she listen to it and then contact me.
I missed her call and had to call back three times before she got back to me and she said she listened to the recording and the person who answered gave me incorrect information and acknowledged that I was told $700 for full face and that she has spoken with the person. When I push back on the principle issue at hand, she tells me that it’s $850 because I had my whole face done. I asked to repeat what I’ve done previously and the person on the other end of the phone booked me incorrectly, more treatment than I asked for, in addition to giving incorrect pricing.
How it COULD have and SHOULD have gone:
I’m sorry if you were given incorrect pricing which is not a common practice here to give an exact $ amount. Could you please allow us some time to review the call recordings and get back to you?
We’ve reviewed the calls and we acknowledge you were given incorrect information on the treatment you requested which resulted in you being booked for a more expensive treatment as well as the misquoted pricing. We would like to offer you a $150 credit towards a future treatment. DONE!!
But now we’re here, Spring Street Derm.
It’s not the $150….it’s much more about the principle of the price changing in addition to basically being called a liar so I’ve asked for medical records and I will not return because of how poorly their front office is run.
I sincerely hope that the $150 and accusing me of being dishonest was worth losing one of your practice’s very first patients EVER.
Spring Street Dermatology was recommended by my gynecologist. It was easy to get an appointment, the staff are friendly and efficient. The PA who saw me gave very helpful information as she did the examination. In short, a great experience.
The office is clean and beautiful and the all the receptionists were friendly and helpful. My appointment with Dr. Vasic started right on time and she and her assistant were knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Vasic knew very quickly was was wrong and clearly laid out my options with the pros and cons. She made herself available for follow up. Seamless and easy visit.
Dr Vasic was very kind, thorough and fast. She explained well to me and I had a nice and short visit, which was great for my schedule.
Dr. Dhingra is exceptional—highly knowledgeable, transparent about treatment options, and consistently thoughtful in his approach. I’m truly grateful for his guidance. The office is stunning, the staff is warm and welcoming, and the Soho location is extremely convenient.
