Alma Yoga is an absolute gem of a studio. Serene, peaceful, and an energetic oasis just south of Bryant Park. Tucked in an unassuming building, up 5 flights of stairs.
I visited as a first-time walk in (arriving in a less than pleasant mood, with the intention to force myself to work out since I hadn’t made time to all week). As class started with breathwork and a restorative pose set up I realized this was a Yin class - not what I had been expecting, but exactly what I needed.
By the end of class I felt completely as ease, and notably, with much more love and appreciation for my body. Grounded and present. The instructor, Sophie, was lovely, and the owner Rosanna is kind, gently welcoming and warm.
Plus, one more note! I’m a big texture girl, and have to comment on the smooth, soothing finish of Alma’s studio yoga mats, and the soft & comforting touch of their organic cotton blankets. It’s clear that this studio was built with care. I’m so glad to have stumbled in, and hope Alma Yoga continues to thrive.
Happy 1 Year, Alma - and go check them out NY!
I’ve been going to Alma Yoga recently and have had such a lovely experience so far. Rosanna is genuinely the sweetest ever, and both her and Berkay really make this studio feel like a community. They’re so accommodating and make a real effort to get to know you.
As someone who was completely new to yoga, I felt very comfortable here from the beginning. The classes are very beginner-friendly, and all of the instructors are welcoming, kind, and encouraging. There’s also a good variety of classes to choose from.
The whole atmosphere feels calm, peaceful, and honestly just like home. I’ll definitely be coming here a lot more and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a warm and supportive yoga studio.
I was only in the city for a few days and randomly found Alma while looking for a non-heated studio nearby. Honestly, such a good find. The pricing felt reasonable, the Yin and Gentle classes I took were such a nice break from the usual Midtown pace, the 1-week pass was totally worth it!!
Alma Yoga is different! I love this place.
I went to this studio during my 3 month stay in Manhattan. I have tried several studios in Manhattan and found that all the classes are kind of rhythmic exercise, but at Alma Yoga all the classes are calming and focus on the core muscles, which is great. The instructors are very attentive to each student, and I have taken classes with about 5 different instructors, all of whom have been excellent.
The studio is clean and relaxed.
I will definitely visit again if I ever go to Manhattan again and highly recommend it to everyone!
When I went to New York for a few days, I was looking for a traditional Hatha Yoga class in Manhattan. I came across this Studio and after having a look at website and Instagram account (which I both liked a lot), I booked a Hatha Yoga class with Rosanna. I was very excited and was warmly welcomed by her when entering the building. The studio itself is such a lovely space and Rosanna created a very warm and calm atmosphere. I loved the session, which was really a traditional Hatha Yoga class. In every aspect I felt Rosanna creating a space for me to feel safe, seen and grounded. Besides having this fantastic lesson, we had a great conversation and I left the studio happy, inspired and resting in myself.
