July was a pretty hectic month as I had to, once again, search for a more affordable zip code for Mom. I’ve been sure to always place her in quality assisted living for Memory Care - but the increased cost of elder care outpaces inflation by a long shot, while her pension and social security remain fixed until her life story ends.

ZIP CODE MATTERS.
And with each move, she is farther and father away from me. For the first time, I had to cross state lines.

Thanks to Rod Oshins’ research, we moved her to a lovely place in New Jersey - but thankfully I live within 10 minutes of of the George Washington Bridge, and she is equidistant to it on the Jersey side. Thank goodness for Lyft - only 25 minutes away on a good day!

So far, I’m very happy with this choice. The staff is very friendly and attentive, so it took no time for Mom to adjust.

She has a sunny room equipped with a kitchenette all to herself - no roommates YAY! There is a gorgeous dining room, private dining for special events, several cozy living room spaces, outdoor patios, entertainment, cinema, art room, on-site wellness/nursing facility with visiting doctors and nurse practitioner weekly.

The decor is joyous and welcoming, centered around an old 1940s/50s Hollywood and Television movie star theme.

I’m grateful to Rod for helping to make sense out of what is otherwise a black box of information overload. I would 100% recommend him to any family who is looking for help in making this important decision .
