Since 1997, Astoria Films has been an established independent film and television studio in New York City. Their main focus is the conception, development, and production of feature films and television series for worldwide distribution on all platforms. They currently have more than 30 features on their slate with several packages, including the updated NYC remake of the Italian post-war masterpiece Umberto D. Their television division, Basement Studios, has 10 original pilots in pre-production. They also benefit from extensive relationships with several major and independent motion picture studios, as well as distributors in the U.S. and Europe. Having worked with RPM Media on their television series The Compulsive Traveler on CBS, they recently co-produced their last feature, STEALING CHANEL, starring Adam Lavorgna, Lydia Hearst, Margaret Colin, John Rothman, and Carol Alt. It was acquired by Lifetime Television for worldwide distribution. Roy Carlo started ASTORIA FILMS in 1997 and is the writer/producer on several of their projects. James La Vita oversees Motion Picture Development and Production, Joe Shapiro heads our Television Division, while Tom Kelly is the VP of Talent and Media Relations.
