I have used many hand pumps over the years but none can compare to the MVP-600. Prior to the MVP-600 I had used Ametek, Transcat, Ralston and Fluke. All worked but would start to have issues. The last one I used, Fluke, had issues with handles breaking and at the time no replacements available so you had to buy a new pump. That's crazy. After second pump handles broke I made handles out of aluminum. While dealing with pump issues I found a local company, East Hills Instruments, that had this MVP-600 American made pump so I ordered it as a backup/alternative. Wow, this pump worked so well that all other pumps now just sit in a drawer. I rebuilt the pump once since owning it at least 10 years. It was still working just sluggish/slow. The offer a rebuild kit and they service what they sell if you want to go that route. Recently I had issue with pump and called company. Seth the owner answered and was able to help me correct issue over the phone and pump was back working. With today's modern customer service it was nice to connect to human right away. I am very happy with there products and customer service and would not hesitate to purchase or recommend anything from East Hills Instruments. They are still what many companies used to be like years ago.
Excellent customer service! The Winchester Model 1 and Red 1 are amazing gauges. They can take the place of multiple gauges with the auto-ranging feature, and you can add a temperature probe with the Red 1. Instead of sending out 5 different gauges and instruments for the yearly certification, you can just send 1 and be covered. Make sure that you check out the warranty too! Try finding a warranty like that ANYWHERE else; you won't.
Just got another MVP 600, Seth mailed the hand pump to my hotel room as we out on a job site doing Cal job a plant during weekend, he help with the shipping and also offered a fair price.
My colleague and I were able to complete our job as the pump was delivered the next day. shipping cost was on the high end but I requested overnight…
I wish the hand pump come with a magnetic hook
Or velco strap that will make it easy to hang, as I do not use this pump with RED1 or any other gauges as it mainly connected to an MC6, take us some time to get use to the schrader valve, but works. I did some engraving for direction and marking for the 1/4 turn to relieved pressure, see photo as it differed from M10.
I also notice that the hand temperature do not affect reading/accuracy if you hold by the “black part”.
Oh… and I did drop it, I thought i needed to send it back but still working fine and accurately.
My colleague used a deburring tool on the knob edge of all other pumps including M-10, to smooth the edge.
Would be good to include some o-ring for the 1/4 adapter… anyway
Overall very good product, being a calibration tech for food/Oil/Gas/aseptic processing easthill do offer some Good Tools and services
I recently reached out to East Hills for assistance with calibration benches, and I had an outstanding experience. Seth was incredibly helpful and introduced me to the Red 1 auto-ranging gauge. Cary took the time to thoroughly explain how it works and its advantages. I initially hesitated to invest in another gauge, as I carry four crystal digital gauges and constantly swap them out due to the varying pressure requirements in aseptic applications. Climbing a 200-foot ladder with all my gear, including a field communicator, process meter, and a backpack full of tools, is challenging. The Red 1's accuracy (psia/psig) and convenience significantly eased my workload. Although it doesn't have auto logger, I'm excited about the upcoming update on a new RED gauge, I can't wait to see its features.
I also replaced my hand pumps, which had become cumbersome to keep as spares or carry in the field. The M-10 hand pump is incredibly comfortable and easy to use (like the release lock on handle & we use 90% Isopropyl Alcohol), a significant improvement over my old hand pumps, such as the Fluke 700, Amet 960, and Beam PGV. We also have female I&E Tech. initially found the old hand pumps torturous, but she loves the M-10, and I've heard no complaints since the switch.
While I wasn't initially considering the M-80 (Low Pro Pressure chamber) due to my need for high accuracy (.01% in boiler fuel-air mixture), I was impressed by its performance. Though it comes in the bulky side and a 3-way valve that isn't my favorite, (and i don't care about the fluor green cordless screw, can't remember the name, start with a "R" from HD... lol...lol...) the accuracy when used alone side with the Red 1 is remarkable. It even includes a soft handbag with a shoulder/neck strap, making it convenient to carry up ladders.
Overall, my experience with East Hills and their products has been exceptional, and I highly recommend them for anyone needing reliable and accurate calibration tools.
I like the "Made is USA"
We custom make an hardcase to carry all the Easthills inst., especially when we travel by plane (see photo).
