I was going to the Village Veterinarian for over 10 plus years before Dr Moscovich retired the practice. Since 2024/2025, the business got sold to private equity, the experience has genuinely been atrocious. My last visit here was fine even though there's zero personalization — they don't try to study before the visits, the vets barely remember them, so they are asking you about the chart — but then when they called me for the Booster appointment reminder and asked me (the pet owner), "what boosters are she coming in for", I kind of lost it. As a pet owner, I'm pretty good at remembering such things and keeping track but why is the Vet asking me all the medical inquiries. They really lost me as a customer here.
Terrible customer service (May 2026). I took both of my cats to this clinic a year ago for regular check-up and vaccination. The visit was fine and the vets/receptionists were kind and helpful. I was specifically looking to support a small business in the neighborhood I just moved to. One of my cats is on a prescription diet and his food is up for renewal. I called in to ask if they would do a one-time courtesy renewal, before his next appointment and was rudely informed NO, because he's 2 weeks overdue for his annual checkup (mind, no appointment call or reminder was received). Absolutely ridiculous. I will be bringing my business to a new veterinary clinic with better people/customer service skills.
I'm so glad I found Dr. Meltzer and East Village Animal Clinic for my baby! He explains things in ways that makes sense and the staff is super knowledgeable and very gentle. You can definitely tell they care about the animals they see. The front desk young lady is super bubbly and friendly, and makes you feel like they are they just for you and your pet.I believe her name is Carrian. I will definitely recommend this clinic to anyone who needs honest and reasonable priced vet care!
Dr. Meltzer and his team provided outstanding care from start to finish. The entire staff was incredibly friendly, thoughtful, and attentive, which made the experience much less stressful for us and our puppy. They took amazing care of her during her spay surgery and made sure we felt informed and comfortable throughout the process. We’re very grateful for their professionalism and compassion, and we highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring veterinary team. 🐶💙
We couldn't be happier or more relieved to have found Dr. Meltzer at his new practice in the East Village. We were previously his clients at his First Avenue clinic, where he provided the most incredible care for our senior terrier, Ellie.
During a difficult time, Dr. Meltzer's approach to end-of-life care was nothing short of amazing. He managed to blend a scientific understanding of her needs with a compassionate balance with her quality of life. His team coordinated with her specialists, which took a huge weight off our shoulders and allowed us to focus on time with Ellie. His guidance and support were invaluable.
We now have a new, little guy called Timo, and there was no question who we would trust with his care. We are so glad to be back with Dr. Meltzer and highly recommend his practice to any pet owner looking for a knowledgeable, thoughtful, and truly caring veterinarian.
