Ali and his very talented team at Fabric House are second-to-none!
Ali tailored a wedding guest dress for me this spring. The dress turned out exactly as I had hoped, the pricing was reasonable, and the process, from start to finish, was pleasant and professional: from the consultation - to the fabric selection - to the fittings - and finally, the unveiling!
Having vetted several tailors in the Garment District, Ali immediately distinguished himself with his passion for his craft and the industry as a whole. It's evident that he's driven to make fashion dreams come to life!

Shopping at Fabric House was one of my top experiences in New York! This was my first trip to New York, but hopefully not my last. I really don't have any experience in the fashion industry other than being a self-taught home sewist, but that didn't matter at all. Luke and Ali were so awesome! They were chill about letting me explore, but they were also helpful and curious about what I'm making. You can tell they really enjoy what they do and they were some of the friendliest people I've met anywhere. There's a huge selection, but Ali remembered a specific wool sweater knit that he had tucked away. Not only did they offer to ship my fabrics home for me, but they also told me if I bought anything from another store, that I could drop it off before they shipped the box and they would add it. Just above and beyond customer service! As for the store itself, it's clean, well-organized with lots of hidden treasures, and has fair prices. If you just love fabric and want to vibe with other people who love fabric, this is the place. Any time I'm back in New York, I'm heading to Fabric House.
I had the best experience with over-the-phone shopping. I needed to order fabric to match something and needed to receive it by the next morning. Ali FaceTimed me a couple of times because he didn’t think the color I chose would match what I needed. In the end, he suggested a color that was perfect when we received it and it was not the color I have selected. He also included another color just in case and told me we could return it at our convenience. We received it the next morning. I was impressed with the customer service and care he provided. I really appreciate it and highly recommend their service.
Honestly, this spot never misses. They have so many nice fabrics, and the quality is always on point. The workers are super chill and helpful — they don’t rush you and actually help you find what you need. Prices are good too, especially for the quality.
If you sew, design, or just like making things, you gotta check this place out. I always end up leaving with more than I planned because everything is so nice. Definitely my go-to fabric store in the city!
