Mike Preis Dog Training

Have been working with both Mike and Jean for over a year to train our puppy (both generally and specifically with separation) and I cannot recommend them enough. They met us where we were at as new owners and provided us with tons of tools. Not to mention they are EXCEPTIONAL with dogs. Their demeanor, patience, kindness, and availability are unmatched. Thanks Mike and Jean :) Can't wait to continue being in touch as the need arrives!

Mike is phenomenal. He is patient and knows how to communicate in ways that resonate with both you and your dog. From the very first session, I learned effective ways to handle my dog across a range of situations. What has impressed me most is Mike's ability to meet you and your dog where you are and to work from there. He is very realistic in what he expects from you, while also showing you how much progress you can make with short daily sessions working on what he shows you. I wholeheartedly recommend Mike to work with any dog, including but not limited to reactive dogs (like mine).

Mike is an incredible trainer and helped us last year with our rescue, Georgia’s, reactivity. He is an excellent teacher to us humans, teaching us not only what to do but why dogs might behave a certain way. He helped us recognize stress in our dog and avoid these situations. His lessons helped Georgia (and us!) become much more confident, especially around other dogs. We cannot thank or recommend Mike enough to other dog parents. We are so grateful and would absolutely work with him again!

I am so so grateful for Mike, his knowledge, his expertise and his training methods. I've worked with a trainer about 8 years ago, and it was fine, nothing special. But Mike is in a league of his own!

Working with a positive enforcement trainer was so important to my girlfriend and I, and Mike had such fabulous reviews and was very responsive. We adopted a very stressed, scared, and anxious dog who originally came from Texas. So his first week in Brooklyn understandably made him pretty fearful with all the sights, sounds, and smells that he wasn't used to. He was too nervous to go to potty outside and we decided to look for a trainer to help us teach our pup that the outside can be a fun place, not a scary place. It was clear that our dog was potty trained, but he was just too nervous to do his business outdoors.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that from the moment Mike stepped into our home, we saw a change in our dog. The smallest changes make the biggest difference sometimes, and we couldn't believe how excited our dog was when we went outside with Mike. The day Mike came over for the first time was the last time we had an accident indoors! Even just from that first visit, the tools and tips we had was enough to make our dog less fearful and know that he's safe with us outside.

Over the next three sessions, we got so many more tips, tools, and training to help us in day to day, including avoiding any potential reactivity around other dogs while walking outside on leash. After each session, Mike sent a super detailed email with plenty of reference videos, articles, books, etc. that we regularly reference.

I'd recommend Mike a thousand times over, and already have done so to other friends who have dogs with separation anxiety. He truly cares about the well being of dogs and we're forever grateful for everything he's helped us out with!
