My parents have lived at Battery Park for two years and although moving was difficult they are doing well here. The community is very nice, and the social programming is very good and responsive to residents’ desires. Most significant however is the staff. The lobby staff- Nadine, Kabrina, Maria and others- are great! They know and care about the residents. Similarly the dining room staff are patient and they understand their audience. They greet residents by name and remember their particular meal and drink requests.
This is an appreciation of Brendan McMahon, one of the managers working at Brookdale. While his title is Associate Executive Director, I found that over the 4 years my parents lived there, Brendan was remarkable in rapidly, consistently, and kindly helping me with every random issue that came up in supporting my parents. Whether it was questions about telephones, aides, finances, etc., he was always there. And with my living out of town, having someone I trusted working at Brookdale helped to give me confidence that my parents were in good care.
AND, Brookdale worked very well for my parents. While the price increases were significant, Brookdale provided just what they promised, and just what my parents needed.
My client lived at Brookdale from 2016 until earlier this year. What follows are views from me, her geriatric care manager, her live-in aide and her family members:

My Aunt has spent almost 5 years at Brookdale Battery Park. She really enjoys the activities/music programs. Seems like there is always a new program coming up. She likes the meals that are offered and the staff is very friendly. The entire staff has been very professional dealing her and our family. They all know her name and treat her with respect. If you have a loved who needs some extra care I would recommend Brookdale Battery Park highly.
Best place ever! Activities are wonderful. Most outstanding part about Brookdale is the AMAZING staff! My mother is SO well cared for. She appreciates everyone who works with her or she comes in contact with. I love the staff and can’t thank them enough. These are special people that work at Brookdale Battery Park!
