Had a walk in today - the owner was just incredible, super friendly and talkative. Had such a great New York experience. Couldn't have asked for a better time and grateful to have had such a professional and experienced tattoo artist. Can recommend anyone to come here for their tattoos while in New York ♡
I genuinely respect tattoo artists and understand that good work costs money. If something was outside my budget, all that needed to be said was “sorry, I can’t do it for that price.” I would’ve completely understood and walked away respectfully.
What made this experience awful was the way I was spoken to.
After showing my reference and explaining what I wanted, the artist immediately tried changing the design instead of listening. When I mentioned I’m a college student and only had a $200 budget, he started making comments about my shoes and implied that if I could afford those, I should be able to pay more for a tattoo.
That was honestly humiliating. There’s a huge difference between valuing your work and belittling a customer. I never questioned his talent, clearly he’s skilled based on the work and reviews here but talent doesn’t excuse making someone feel small for their financial situation.
A simple “not in my budget” conversation somehow turned into being judged for what I was wearing. Left feeling more insulted than anything else.
Please go to Red Rocket Tattoos, it’s 10 minutes walking from this place and the artists are so so so much nicer, caring and understanding.
EDIT - The owner’s response to this review pretty much sums up the kind of experience people receive here. I still wish you and your shop the best, but I stand by my words.
We had a great experience! We received a very warm welcome and were even the first ones there. Tommy advised us to place the tattoo in a different spot than we originally planned, and that turned out to be the perfect decision.
The consultation was not only professional but also fun, which made the whole experience very comfortable. Our ideas were implemented exactly as we wanted, and we are extremely happy with the result.
The atmosphere was fantastic as well. We can 100% recommend this place!
Greetings from the two Germans! 🇩🇪
GIVE THIS MAN ALL UR MONEY!!! My roommates and I got beyond a 5 Star experience for first tattoo. Spent the whole time relaxed and giggling thanks to how comfortable everyone was. We ended up leaving not only tatted but enlightened and blessed by the holy spirit. Lots of love, keep it up!
My friend and I visited Times Square Tattoo and had a really good experience. The line work was very well done and the shop was clean. It was both of our first experience getting tattoos and they made us feel comfortable!
A note for those looking to get work done on certain areas of the body, they won’t work on certain areas for religious reasons. It is a Catholic-influenced shop.
