West Village Vet is just incredible.
I had two very medically complex senior pups and I was able to rest assured that I was always in good hands. The clinical care was thoughtful, detailed and compassionate. Dr Hildebrand in particular was incredible, always helping research the most fringe cases and helping us get into specialists.

I brought my dog here in 2022 after our groomer — someone with years of experience working with animals — noticed something alarming on her skin and urged me to see a vet right away. When I brought this up to the doctor, she didn't take it seriously. Instead, she dismissed it with an arrogant attitude, asking "Where is your concern even coming from?" — as if a groomer who has seen hundreds of dogs over the years couldn't possibly know what they were talking about. She looked down on the groomer's perspective simply because they weren't a veterinarian.
She failed to diagnose my dog. Not misdiagnosed — she didn't catch it at all, even after I told her exactly what to look at and why.
By 2023, my dog was seriously ill. By the time we finally got the correct diagnosis elsewhere, it was too late. The disease had progressed beyond the point of treatment. I lost my dog.
The groomer was right. The vet was wrong. If she had put her ego aside for one second and actually listened — to me, to the groomer's warning, to anyone — my dog might still be here. But she was too proud to consider that someone outside her profession could spot something she missed.
This place may have high ratings, but I am sharing my experience so no one else loses their pet to a doctor's arrogance. Stay far away.
Great team! Our pet loves visiting and being treated here it’s also great that they spray pheromones to ensure comfort during a visit.
We have always had excellent service at WVVH - the vets are all so compassionate, as are the rest of the staff. It doesn't matter what we come in for. Additionally, they actually charge on par / less than many other vets that we've taken Lumi to.
Our little girl is so well taken care of here and we continue to come back even after moving to Brooklyn.
Huge thank you to Dr. Gi and Dr. Denton and the rest of the team for always being so good with Lumi!
WVVH is great. Professional, clean, thorough, compassionate, very convenient, reasonably priced and communicative. We look forward to bringing Shakes the Cat to WVVH whenever hes under the weather! Meds are pricey but this is a vet industry pharma thing, not their fault.
