I attended Paul's classes at the Y nearly a decade ago. He was very kind, informative, and personable. I was a beginner at the time. Paul's calm manner has allowed me to successfully pick up important survival skills in a stress-free environment. A small group of us also joined him at Brighton Beach to acquire some skills in open water. That year after, I completed my first triathlon race. This year, I pick up swimming again, starting from once a week to now consistently 6 days a week and I still vivid remember some of Paul's instructions. He is a great instructor. You won't regret attending his classes.
Paul is an amazing guy. He helped me get over my fear of swimming in deeper water. He motivates you to be a better version of yourself. Initially I was very reluctant to get into the cold water and I was struggling a lot with my free style. He gave me drills and different techniques to improve it. He puts his heart and soul into each student and is a very kind person. Would happily recommend joining him if you want to learn swimming and also have fun.
I took private swim classes with Paul and learned to swim as an adult and now my toddler (started around 2 years old) is learning to swim with Paul. Paul communicates effectively & he has the social and emotional skills to work with young kiddos. My son feels safe in the pool with him (without a grown up) & is always looking forward to his sessions weekly. Swimming is a survival skill and it’s worth the investment because it builds confidence, safety, and more ! Thank you Paul!
I’ve had such a fantastic experience with Paul Hunt. After the 2022 Ironman 70.3 Maine, I proposed to improve my swimming techniques and contacted Coach Paul. For the last year, he has put his heart and soul into making me a better swimmer, doing dryland exercises, modeling the correct techniques in the water, and periodically, he takes videos after the lesson we discuss, so I can see the mistakes I’m making and how to correct them. Another thing I like about coaching Paul is that he helps me to set clear goals. Among them was swimming 25 yards with 16 strokes or less. I was doing it with 24 strokes. Another goal was to swim 100 yards in 1:45 to 1:30 minutes. I have to correct some mistakes with my strokes and body position: such as keeping my legs closed and my head aligned with my neck. He gives a set of drills to help me reduce drags in the water and achieve my goals. Besides, he is honest and easy to communicate with. I enjoy going to my swimming lessons, and I highly recommend them to my circle of friends
I've been hitting the water with Paul as my swim instructor for a nearly five years now! When I first stumbled upon his adult swim class, I barely knew a thing about swimming. Fast forward to today, and I can confidently say that Paul has helped me into a swimmer who can cross the full length of the pool with ease.
What I love most about Paul is his enthusiasm for all things swimming. He manages to turn every lesson into a delightful adventure, finding creative ways to point out the tiny improvements that make a big difference.
But it's not just the fun and games that make Paul an exceptional instructor. He's also a good at adapting his teaching approach to meet each swimmer's needs. When I began, he patiently focused on building my confidence and getting comfortable in the water. 5 years back, in classes, bulk of time is devoted for floating and breathing exercise. As time went on, our sessions shifted towards refining techniques and increasing endurance. It's this personalized touch that has kept me hooked on Paul's lessons year after year.
If you're on the hunt for private swim lessons, I can't recommend Paul enough. His laid-back yet professional demeanor, combined with his dedication to helping his students grow, sets him apart from the rest. Trust me, whether you're a beginner or already have some swim skills, Paul will guide you on an incredible swim journey that will leave you feeling accomplished and eager for more!
