The people and general service at this bank are good. They do what they are supposed to, and the tellers, managers, back office do try to accomodate your needs, and answer your questions.
I will note one major issue that I can never get over though.
I just got involved in my mom's mortgage this year for the first time and discovered a $50K tax discount (over many years) that this bank never told her about.
My mom had a significant mortgage with this bank for decades. That included a decent amount of interest that this bank was making.
The mortgage holder (the bank), usually pays a borrower's NYC property tax for the client (my mom), from an escrow account.
My mom was entitled to a massive NYC senior real estate tax discount (SCHE program) for 15+ years. They told her nothing.
If paying property tax is a big part of your mortgage-paying business, your should know about this.
So my mom lost $50K in real estate tax that she was qualified to keep over the years.
When I asked them about this, they shrugged it off and wanted to end the conversation.
$50K is a large amount so I imagine they thought I would sue them. A lawsuit is not cheap, easy or quick, and I may not have evidence to implicate them. But, very disappointing.
So get involved in the finances of any senior in your life. And don't assume banks, accountants, etc. will tell you crucial info that could really impact your finances.
The staffs are always helpful and respectful. I’ve had a great experience with RBB from day one.
This horrible bank finally closed! There are no more FAIB banks in Manhattan, a RBB was opened on Canal St that is own by one of their EVP! For a public company that is considered a conflict of interest. That a lampert move!
Horrible bank after being acquired by a cheap California bank. All Manhattan FAIB locations had been closed. First East Boardway, than Grand, and now Bowery. When this location reopen, it will only be open for a week and then it will be permanently closed. A RBB (not FAIB) will open at Canel St.
In a few month their Flushing South bank will closed, then maybe a year their Elmhurst location (after lease expire), even their brooklyn locations may closed even though they own the buildings.
If its not for my great-grandpa monthly mortgage payments, I will never step foot in this bank. Horrible bank needs to go bankrupt now!
An appreciation review for manager Ray Guo
