I've been training at Masterskya for a few years now. Not only has this place helped me learn and love the sport of jiu jitsu, it's transformed the way I view community. The coaches and training partners here are top-notch and have helped me grow as an athlete and individual. There's a strong sense of team here and everyone supports each other. I couldn't recommend Masterskya enough -- if you're day 1 white belt all the way up to a seasoned vet, this is a great place to train.
high level + comprehensive instruction, really really solid work and a fantastic variation of skillsets in the room that allow for a lot of room to work on things you want to, as well as challenge you. the facility is well managed and clean, nice showers and spacious. as a woman i felt really safe here and comfortable to ask questions. my favorite part was the jar of extra hair ties :) these guys are super cool, really fantastic environment for both brand new grapplers and experienced practitioners
I have trained in many gyms in different countries, and I can say that this is a strong team with a friendly atmosphere. The coach finds an approach for every student, even though there are many people training in the gym. He also has a great sense of humor, which makes the training even more enjoyable and comfortable.
The gym has an amazing, welcoming vibe with a mix of serious training and good energy. The classes are well-structured, the mats are always clean, and the community feels like family. Alex has built something special here in SoHo — a place where you can hone your craft without ego or unnecessary pressure.
If you’re in NYC and looking for top-tier Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with outstanding coaching, look no further. Highly recommend Masterskya and Coach Alex Ecklin!
Thank you, team! 🙏
As a black belt who’s had the pleasure of knowing Alex for years, I can confidently say he’s built something special at Masterskaya. He’s charismatic, an excellent teacher, and has created an environment that encourages learning and community. The students and teammates are welcoming, positive, and bring great energy to training. All around good vibes. Bonus points for the awesome food spots nearby too. Highly recommend training here.
