Halstead Management is currently managing my mother’s building at 88-73 193rd Street in Queens. My mother is 75 years old and has been without heat and has a defective, leaking refrigerator with a hole in the freezer.
These are essential services under New York law. We sent formal written notice and received no response.
This situation is especially concerning given that the tenant is a senior and these conditions pose health and safety risks.
As of today, these issues remain unresolved.
The management team when given the opportunity to be pragmatic consistently fails. Purchased an apartment and it was left dirty with furniture in it and no consequences to the real estate agent (another stellar halstead rep) who is also still selling in the building. They’ve set a tone where it’s not conducive to it feeling like home because they want to make things difficult versus livable. Their rules and policies are poorly written, in some cases have not been updated in over 15 years and then they like to act high and mighty when they make no sense. Not the sharpest pencils in the box and as nasty as can be.
A management company that values all its tenants retaining contracts that are given as well. All contractors are paid out on time as well. No complaints from the supers or porters for any maintenance work that needs to be done .
They value each and every tenant. Every time I’ve spoken to Adam , Alex , or Dimitri they have always taken very good care of me and prioritize my issues. Their newest contractor on board from pyramid has been such a wonderful contractor that I have nothing but good words for them.
Irene Booker at Halstead is the absolute best managing agent out there. New York City is not known for responsive managing agents and Irene goes above and beyond. Every time I see Irene’s name as the managing agent for a property I’m doing a deal on, I am overjoyed. Thanks, Irene, for standing out!
