I have been a renter at CubeSmart on 55th St. for nearly two years now. I am grateful for what has been provided to me in my time there. The location is secure, clean, affordable, and conveniently located. The alternate options locally are far more expensive, and don't compare favorably, for myriad reasons. Even with these great attributes CubeSmart presents, I found the service team (employees) to be as impactful as anything. Jordan, the GM of the location, is professional, direct and helpful. When the pipes in the building burst during the extreme cold weather in February 2026, I was impressed by how well he managed what must have been quite a challenging situation with customers and company. He maintained his composure while interacting with customers, and seemed a steadying influence. His leadership was vital in the overall disposition and attentiveness of the staff on a daily basis. Faith has been polite, helpful and welcoming the entire time she's been there. She has a consistent, intelligent, customer friendly, personable way about her, indicating she is likely an excellent teammate. On more than one occasion I witnessed her diffuse volatile situations by being a level-headed, caring, employee and human. I expect she will be a fantastic leader in her future, regardless of vocation. I was saddened when both Cheyenne and Shawna went on to take different jobs and were no longer in the office regularly. They were super friendly from the first day I rented and I always enjoyed our interactions. I also enjoyed talking Hoops with Ali and wish him well wherever he is. I think it's also worth noting, that I did on a couple of occasions find myself at odds with Jordan and Faith, specifically. I will surely take responsibility for my side, knowing that I don't always express myself in ways that are fully-polite and productive. That said, what I found was that all of us were willing to leave those things behind, not take it personal, and move forward with more constructive, human relationships. Supported by mutual understanding and appreciation for the other. I find that to be quite encouraging and also emblematic of the positive people and employees that they are. It seems to me, that due to the tough life situations of plenty of us renters, the staff is frequently challenged with upholding the standards and safety, their company aspires to. I think they do a marvelous job accomplishing this, despite what frequently might be annoying, unsettling and repetitive. I believe that Mark plays an important role in the security and function of their location as well. All said, I am thankful for CubeSmart and the thoughtful, professional employees I've experienced. It has been a pleasure to get to know them better and to do business with the Company.

Frequently Asked Questions about Self-Storage Facilities

Local moving costs in NYC typically range from $100 to $200 per hour for a crew of two, plus truck fees. A studio apartment move runs $300 to $800, while a two-bedroom costs $500 to $1,500. Get binding estimates from multiple movers on New York Lists.
Check that the mover is licensed and insured (NYC DOT license for local moves). Read reviews on New York Lists, ask for a binding written estimate, and confirm there are no hidden fees. Avoid movers who demand large cash deposits upfront.
Book at least 2 to 4 weeks in advance for local moves, especially if moving at the end of the month or during summer peak season (May-September). For last-minute moves, some companies offer availability with shorter notice but at higher rates.
Most moving companies offer packing services and supplies (boxes, tape, bubble wrap) for an additional fee. Some provide free quotes for packing materials. You can save money by packing yourself and having movers handle only the heavy lifting and transport.
Reputable movers in NYC provide basic valuation coverage (typically 60 cents per pound). For valuable items, purchase full replacement value protection or check if your renter's/homeowner's insurance covers moves. Discuss insurance options when booking.
